10 Mystery Books For Christmas

             

Christmas waves a magic wand over the world,beholds it more softer and happier.This season is all about being cozy,so why not hook up with a book(especially a mystery one).Christmas is a mysterious as well as magical time of the year.When television becomes boring and party game pall,the prospect of curling up in warm with a good mystery is enticing. You can read mystery books in any season ,they're same every time :addictive.If you're like me who loves to seasonal mysteries as you can feel the story spinning around yourself so this  list definitely for you.If you're not like me don't worry this list is for you too because its never to try something new.
So here's a list of some books you can try out:

                           

The Adventure Of Christmas Pudding:Agatha  Christie
It is a collection of six short stories,five of them featuring Hercule Poirot and one with Miss Marple.The first story adventure of the Christmas pudding is Christie's tribute to the wonderful time she had during Christmas at her brother in laws house. Hercule Poirot is invited to attend a Christmas at a house with missing ruby.The children in house challenge Poirot by setting a sub-plot.Poirot solves the case and teaches the kids a lesson .As with many Christmas stories it feel nostalgic and sentimental.Light quick read,perfect for the pre-Christmas madness.


A Christmas Secret :Anne Perry
It is the 4th book in the series Christmas Stories.A very  enjoyable short mystery set at Christams time in  Victorian England.Dominic Corde is thrilled to fill the position of substitute vicar.That excitement changes to concern ,when things don't add up,creating a mystery around the previous vicar.There are some more shock for the Dominic and his wife ahead as the secrets of village start to come to the surface and some very "old"sins are brought back to haunt some local folk.Its a quick read which is going to make turn pages till the end.


Murder For Christmas :Francis  Duncan
A classic murder mystery for the festive season :mulled wine,mince pies...and a murder. Mordecai Tremaine has been invited to spend Christmas in the sleepy village of Sherbroome .Arriving on the Christmas Eve he sees that revelries are in full flow but soo is tension amongst the assortment of guests.Midnight strikes and the party goers discover that it's not just the presents under the tree...there's a dead body too.
It is a classic novel with a perfect mystery to curl up with on a cold winter night.

Hercule Poirot's Christmas:Agatha Christie
When it comes to mysteries I really love the way Christie spins it around .In this book holidays are anything but merry when a family reunion is marred by murder-and the notoriously fastidious investigator is quickly on the case.A nasty old man ,his most estranged family bearing many grudges brought together for a very dysfunctional Christmas in the family mansion.When the old man end up dead and some precious jewels go missing there are number of suspects for police and Hercule Poirot to investigate.It feels really good to re-visit Agatha Christie from time to time and be reminded of what a consummate storyteller she was.


Mystery in White:J.Jefferson Farjeon
On Christmas Eve a snowstorm rages.A group of disoriented travellers who,somewhat unwisely have abandoned their stranded train ,have stumbled upon a deserted house.But a deserted house where a bread knife lays on the floor ,the kettle is boiling,the fires are lit and tea is laid.This is a great cozy Christmas read.Its so mindlessly banal that it's perfect for air or train travel.So even if you are travelling you can give it a go
                                                                                           

Crimson Snow:Martin Edward
This book presents a series of festive cosy crime tales,all of which are unsurprisingly,set in winters.Twelve crime stories from masters of genre are collected together in this book.Some of the authors you may be knowing well,though some may be unfamiliar.If you are looking for something to read after Christmas lunch then this would be ideal. 


Silent Nights:Martin Edward
Here is another book with a collection of short stories edited by Martin Edward.This is a wonderful anthology of short delightful,Golden Age Christmas Mysteries by many famous authors.Each author has a little biography about them in front which really adds something special.So as Christmas season gets busy,take a little break and read a delightful story that is sure to raise your Christmas spirit.


The Christmas Mystery :James Patterson
It is the 2nd book of Detective Luc Moncrief .The book takes detective Moncrief from art forgery to murder. Two stolen paintings disappear from Park Avenue murder scene and the French detective is in for a merry Christmas.


A Maigret Christmas:Georges Simenon
Three seasonal stories set in Paris at Christmas.It is Christmas in Paris ,but beneath the sparkling lights and glittering decorations lie sinister deeds and dark secrets.The 1st story in the book is of Inspector Maigret solving a mystery on Christmas day.I can't tell more about this book as I have not yet read it ,but gonna do this year.So if anyone of you have read it,do tell me how you felt reading it😊.


A Killer's Christmas in Wales:Elizabeth  J. Duncan
The residents in a small Welsh town are bustling around with their Christmas preparation when a charming American man sweeps the widow Evelyn Lloyd off her feet.He vanishes with a large sum of money that she gave him to invest.Ehrn he is found murdered outside castle thing go messy.It is a slow moving mystery.Much of the story is about the relationship among the townspeople,you can enjoy its holiday warmth and the small town spirit and charm.
